As I was sitting next to some parents at my children's gymnastic class, the subject of teachers came up. One mother, a teacher herself, began talking about a co-worker she really admired.
The teacher had been working with her young student as he learned to read, and during the course of the year had come to realize that the child's father was illiterate. She began coming in early before school to tutor the child along with the father and they both learned to read together.
It was a very inspiring story, and got me thinking that I'd really like to highlight some of these great stories. Please submit your teacher for my Great Teacher Giveaway!
