Now to the main topic - Last year IKEA added a new line of containers for the purpose of sorting recyclables, but I was in serious need of toy storage. My kids share a room, so I had a small space to fit something in and I wasn't having any luck finding anything.
Needless to say, I was very excited to come across IKEA's containers, which I could customize to fit in the space I needed, double as a book shelf, and hold all those small toys that drive me crazy.
The boxes are perfect for little items. We have one box filled with finger puppets, another filled with cars, and one filled with a bunch of random little toys that can't really be classified. Another awesome thing, is that the boxes can be easily removed and put back into place, so you can take the car bin out to the family room for easy clean up.
I also bought a set of containers (from IKEA) that were designed to hold shoes near an entry way. But, I use the top one for a dirty clothes hamper, and bottom for blocks. That was before the new white boxes, which are actually deeper and have a higher back, so I would recommend those instead.
I noticed in this year's catalog, IKEA put the containers to use besides waste sorting. It would be great if they expanded on the line and added some other colors!
