New Style - Apple Patterns

I haven't added any new card styles for a while, because my posters have been keeping me pretty busy. But luckily, inspiration struck last week and once I get an idea, it's hard to stop the train.

So I'm happy to present my latest set - Apple Patterns - full of bright goodness and fun patterns. This set is also a first for me; it comes with both styles, six cards in each pattern, yay!

Perfect Small Toy Storage

First, I confess, I'm a terrible blogger! But I'm committing myself to it, and so hopefully, I'll stay on top of it.

Now to the main topic - Last year IKEA added a new line of containers for the purpose of sorting recyclables, but I was in serious need of toy storage. My kids share a room, so I had a small space to fit something in and I wasn't having any luck finding anything.

Needless to say, I was very excited to come across IKEA's containers, which I could customize to fit in the space I needed, double as a book shelf, and hold all those small toys that drive me crazy.

The boxes are perfect for little items. We have one box filled with finger puppets, another filled with cars, and one filled with a bunch of random little toys that can't really be classified. Another awesome thing, is that the boxes can be easily removed and put back into place, so you can take the car bin out to the family room for easy clean up.

I also bought a set of containers (from IKEA) that were designed to hold shoes near an entry way. But, I use the top one for a dirty clothes hamper, and bottom for blocks. That was before the new white boxes, which are actually deeper and have a higher back, so I would recommend those instead.

I noticed in this year's catalog, IKEA put the containers to use besides waste sorting. It would be great if they expanded on the line and added some other colors!

New Wedding Posters Getting Some Love

I listed my new line of wedding thumbprint posters last week, and am happy to have found some web love from Emmaline Bride, a great website all about handmade weddings. I'm also working on my first one for a customer who is buying it for a six year anniversary gift. It makes me happy to think that it will be such a personal present, and hopefully make someone feel so loved!

Adventures in Cakeville

On my little brother's 2nd birthday, my mom made a cake that looked like a train. We have a photo of the happiest little boy on earth. And that was the start of my cake adventures for my own children. I'm not planning on winning any contests, but I do have a lot of fun.

We just celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday with a Winnie-the-Pooh tea party. So I decided to make a tea set for her cake.

It was pretty easy and the kids loved eating their tea cups!

I thought I would also share some cakes from the past few years.

Spotlight on Studio 5

Well, I've been hard at work on a new line that I'm really excited about. My goal is to have it ready by the first of May, but with all that is going on for me in April we'll see if I can stick to it.

Love on the brain

My husband has been under the gun at work and putting in some long hours. I was just thinking about him yesterday and realizing that when he's not around it is the little things I miss the most. Which was the inspiration for this design.

I'm hoping to make a few more in the same series. Jeez, I must have some Valentine's love on the brain!

Well, the holidays are over and now the chill of winter really seems to set in. It's quite dreary in Salt Lake City right now and I'm cold, too. Holiday Cards for Teachers

Matryoshka in My Kitchen

On my flight with my two kids (ages 3 and 1) last week, we were on the verge of meltdown in the last hour. So I popped in a DVD; I always save it as my last resort. Yay for technology! I finally had a break, but had not packed anything for myself to read. Luckily there was the good ol' standby - the SkyMall catalog.

Have you ever looked through it and wondered, who buys this stuff? I mean the before and after photos of the 'facelift tape' look great. But isn't it likely someone will say, "Hey, I think you have some tape on your face."

I might be a little ashamed to admit it, but I guess I'm a SkyMaller now, 'cause I just bought these awesome Matryoshka nesting doll measuring cups! I think they are so cool. Then again, I'm also a little nerdy :)

Disney Mania!

Our whirlwind trip to Walt Disney World is at an end. It seems like time operates on a different scale there; two days felt a lot longer. We had a great time at Animal Kingdom and rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh three times.

The kids did awesome - much better than I expected with the major sensory overload. It was a fun family getaway. Now hopefully I won't dream about the Magic Kingdom again tonight...
